Spine Care
Spine care built around preservation, precision, and possibility.
Neck or back pain can affect nearly every movement in a day. Our spine physicians take time to understand the source of your symptoms and how they affect your life. Surgery is not automatically the first answer. We consider nonsurgical care first when it is appropriate and offer advanced surgical options when they provide the clearest path forward.
Conditions may include
- Neck and low back pain
- Herniated or degenerative discs
- Pinched nerves and radiating arm or leg pain
- Spinal stenosis
- Spondylolisthesis and instability
- Spinal deformity and alignment concerns
- Persistent or recurrent symptoms after prior treatment
Capabilities discussed by the SSMI team
- Cervical and lumbar spine surgery
- Endoscopic spine surgery
- Minimally invasive spine surgery
- Cervical and lumbar disc replacement
- Motion-preserving procedures
- Decompression procedures
- Fusion procedures, including lateral approaches
- Robotic-assisted and patient-specific surgical planning, when appropriate

Outpatient Spine Surgery & Anesthesia
Specialized care from preparation through recovery.
For appropriate patients and procedures, spine surgery may be performed at an affiliated outpatient surgery center. The surgical, anesthesia, and nursing teams coordinate before the day of surgery, then stay focused on your safety, comfort, pain control, and readiness to recover at home.
Your anesthesia plan may include
- General anesthesia
- Regional anesthesia
- Newer non-opioid strategies when appropriate
Before the day of surgery
- A tailored plan built around your medical history
- Time to ask questions and raise concerns
- Coordination across surgical, anesthesia and nursing teams

Interventional Pain Management
Relief is important. So is what relief lets you do.
Interventional pain management uses targeted, often less-invasive treatments to reduce symptoms and improve function. Our pain physicians work closely with the surgical team, which makes it easier to coordinate care, compare perspectives, and change direction when your needs change.
Treatments may include
- Epidural steroid injections
- Radiofrequency ablation
- Basivertebral nerve ablation
- Spinal cord stimulation
- Peripheral nerve stimulation
- Regenerative medicine, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP)
- Medication management when appropriate
- Minimally invasive decompression procedures
- Referrals for physical therapy and other supportive care
