Questions

Answers before
the appointment.

The questions we hear most often from people getting ready for a first visit.

Do I need to know which specialist to see?

No. Tell our scheduling team what you are experiencing and share any referral or imaging information you have. We will help direct you.

Will I see a physician at my first visit?

SSMI’s physician-led model is designed for new patients to meet with a physician early in their care. Confirm the details of your appointment when scheduling.

Does every patient need surgery?

No. Depending on your condition, your physician may recommend therapy, medication, an injection, regenerative medicine, observation, or another nonsurgical approach.

What if I have already received treatment elsewhere?

Bring relevant records, imaging, procedure notes, and a list of treatments you have tried.

Are all surgeries outpatient?

No. Outpatient surgery depends on the procedure, your health, and your physician’s recommendation. Safety comes first.

When should I seek emergency care?

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department for a medical emergency. Website messages and portal requests should not be used for urgent or emergency concerns.
